We have limited open seats for the current school year. To inquire about availability and language proficiency required for a particular grade, e-mail email@example.com or complete an inquiry form.
Step 1: Attend a Main Campus Information Session
Our Main Campus information sessions give families the opportunity to meet members of our diverse community, visit our vibrant classrooms, and ask questions about life at Science, Language & Arts International School.
Attending a Main Campus information session is required for admission to our Elementary and Middle School programs. It provides families an opportunity to experience our school culture and ask questions about our program.
Applicants to the Early Childhood Annex (Carroll Gardens) may register for a Main Campus information session, and/or an Annex facilities tour. We do not offer a full information session at the Annex location.
Step 2: Submit Application Materials
The application deadline for 2020-21 is December 13, 2019. The following materials are required to be considered for admission.
For all applicants:
- Online Application and Application Fee ($75)
- Confidential School Report* from child’s current school (for Pre-K and up)
For Grade 6 and up:
- Teacher Recommendations (English Language Arts)* from current teacher
- Teacher Recommendations (Math/Science)* from current teacher
- Writing Sample in English (from current school year)
- Writing Sample in French or Chinese for Advanced Language Applicants (one paragraph or more)
If paying the application fee is a hardship for your family, please inform our Admissions Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
*These items must be submitted to SLA directly by the school/teacher (not by the family). Forms can be e-mailed to: email@example.com or mailed to: Attn: Admissions Office, Science, Language & Arts, 9 Hanover Place, Brooklyn, NY, 11201.
Step 3: Child Visit & Family Meeting (Pre-K and up)
After receiving your completed application and application fee, our admissions team will contact you to schedule a visit for your child and a family meeting. Pre-K and Kindergarten applicants will participate in an informal playgroup in English (50 minutes) facilitated by SLA faculty members. Applicants for Grade 1 and higher will be scheduled for a school-day visit of a half to a full day, depending on grade level.
