Language classes for adults are taught by experienced professionals and offer lots of opportunity to speak and use the target language.

Beginning foreign language classes focus on getting students talking right away, building vocabulary as well as basic grammar and functional language in context. ESL classes are tailored to the level of the class and focus on improving fluency, pronunciation, and functional language.

Spring session runs 8 weeks, from the week of April 29 through the week of June 17.

The deadline to register for our Spring 2019 session of course offerings is April 22.

Spring 2019 Session Offerings (April 29–June 19)

Description: Parlez-vous français? In this introductory course, students explore the basics of the French language through listening, repeating, communicating, reading, and writing. Each week, the class focuses on a different practical use of the language and will consist of an explanation of the content in English followed by a fun, immersive lesson in French. By the end of the course, students will be able to comfortably understand and communicate in basic French, just in time for that trip to Paris! Opportunities for home practice are provided, and all materials are included.

About the Instructor: Marie-Hélène Brabant, a French native, has lived in New York City for the past 22 years. She has taught French at all levels for adults, children, and teenagers at the French Institute / Alliance Française, the Lycée Français of NY, and the SLA enrichment program, among others.

Description: Come improve your English and pronunciation in a fun, supportive community in downtown Brooklyn, convenient to all major subway lines. Ideal for students who would like to improve their English speaking, listening, and grammar, this class focuses on conversation in a community environment. Classes are tailored to students’ levels, based on an assessment on the first day of class. All materials included.

About the Instructor: Samar Aal is an ESL Instructor with 18 years of teaching experience. She has a Master’s degree in TESOL from Hunter College and has taught English in Egypt, Indonesia, and New York City.
