At Science, Language & Arts International School, learning does not stop once the school day is over. We host a wide range of Enrichment, After-School Care, and Tutoring options for children. All of our after-school activities align with our distinct academic philosophy.

After-school activities are offered for three separate terms each school year (Fall, Winter, and Spring).

These programs are open to everyone and SLA will be offering walk-over from select schools in the neighborhood.

Check out our expanded catalogue of after-school programming at our new home at 9 Hanover Place in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn.  With our new standalone building, we are continuing to offer our own stellar programming as well as access to some of the best after-school enrichment activities in New York City.

A special Pre-K and Kindergarten enrichment session will take place each day from 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM, while classes for children of all ages will be held at 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

In addition to our expanded after-school programming, SLA continues to expand our French and Mandarin language offerings, including evening and weekend classes for both children and adults. Stay tuned for more information on these programs in the Fall.

As we learn about each simple machine we will build on our knowledge and skills as inventors. We will practice problem-solving and creative solutions in an arts-based, fun, collaborative environment. We take inspiration from artists who are also scientists, who will inspire the group to create their own inventions at the end of the workshop.

Cooking with Allergic to Salad specializes in healthy, fun, hands-on cooking lessons that explore international cuisine with children. We’re less concerned about drilling in “what’s good for us” and more on finding out that cooking is fun. Together we develop basic kitchen skills such as kitchen safety, knife technique, measuring, an appreciation of kitchen tools and the various techniques each recipe requires.

In handing the ingredients to students and giving them agency over the production of the meal, children are able to smell, taste, measure and manipulate each part of the cooking process and develop a new perspective on food that helps them to begin a lifetime of cooking nourishing food. At the end of every lesson we have the opportunity to taste the dish we’ve made together.
